Moving Patients to Resus

If GCS is 13 on initial assessment, a patient should be moved immediately to Resus.

Ventilation should be given to a head injury patient if GCS is under 9 or if a rapid fall in GCS is evident.

Indicators for ventilation to be given:

  • Loss of airway reflexes

  • Raised ICP

  • Blown pupil

  • Falling pulse

  • Rising BP
