Fat is essential for absorbing some vitamins into the body, including vitamin A, D and E.

Eating lots of saturated fat can raise cholesterol and increase risk of heart disease.

Foods high in saturated fat include:

  • Fatty bits of meat

  • Dairy products

  • Biscuits

  • Cakes and chocolate

Protein

Protein replaces the body's cells and tissues. Examples of foods high in protein are:

  • Meat

  • Fish

  • Nuts/seeds

  • Milk
