Medication Support

The MAR stands for Medication Administration Record; all medicine (even vitamins) must be on it and approved by a GP.

The MAR must contain all the information on it to allow carers to safely support people (6 Rights), and must be prepared before support is given.

It is important to remember that interactions between any type of medication or remedy can be detrimental to someone’s health.

Always take your time to read the care plan and MAR carefully, then sign them. If you notice an error whilst reviewing the MAR, call the office BEFORE giving any medication. If you notice a mistake you have made, whilst updating the MAR, call the office. Local Authority safeguarding policy states that medication errors must always be reported in case of abuse.
